Biography
Jean-Luc Brunel was a prominent French modeling agent whose decades-long career in the fashion industry became inextricably linked to Jeffrey Epstein's abuse network. Court documents allege Epstein provided the financial backing for Brunel's agency MC2 Model Management, which prosecutors described as functioning partly as a recruitment pipeline for victims.
The relationship between Brunel and Epstein dated to at least the early 1990s. Virginia Giuffre alleged in sworn declarations that Brunel brought girls as young as 12 from Eastern Europe and South America under the guise of modeling opportunities. Multiple accusers described a pattern: Brunel would recruit aspiring models, often from impoverished backgrounds abroad, promising legitimate careers. Some were then directed to Epstein.
Brunel's name appeared 25 times on Epstein's flight logs, and he was a frequent visitor to Epstein's residences. Long before the Epstein connection surfaced, a 1988 60 Minutes investigation examined allegations of sexual misconduct in the modeling industry that named Brunel. Former models described a predatory environment.
French authorities arrested Brunel at Charles de Gaulle airport on December 16, 2020, charging him with rape of minors and sexual harassment. He was held at La Sante prison in Paris. On February 19, 2022 — two and a half years after Epstein's death in custody — Brunel was found hanging in his cell. French prosecutors ruled it suicide. His death drew immediate comparisons to Epstein's and prompted calls for investigation.
