Biography
Annie Farmer stands out among Epstein's accusers for her decision to testify publicly at the Maxwell trial, waiving her right to anonymity. Her testimony, delivered in December 2021, provided the jury with a powerful and detailed account of how Epstein and Maxwell operated.
Farmer alleges she was first introduced to Epstein in 1996 at age 16, through her older sister Maria Farmer, who worked at an Epstein-affiliated art gallery. According to her testimony, she was invited to Epstein's Zorro Ranch property in New Mexico under the guise of an educational opportunity. At the ranch, Maxwell gave her a sexualized massage, and Epstein subsequently abused her. She also described abuse at the Manhattan townhouse on East 71st Street.
Her sister Maria Farmer had been one of the very first people to formally report Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to law enforcement. In 1996, Maria contacted the FBI and NYPD, but her complaint was not acted upon. The failure to investigate Maria's 1996 report allowed Epstein's abuse to continue for years. When the case finally broke open decades later, the Farmer sisters' early reports became evidence of systemic failure by law enforcement agencies.
Annie Farmer filed a civil lawsuit against Epstein's estate. Her decision to use her real name at trial was seen as an act of courage that helped other victims come forward. Her testimony corroborated the pattern described by other accusers: the veneer of philanthropy, the isolation at remote properties, the incremental boundary violations, and Maxwell's role in facilitating access.
